Marti Regan's School Visit Topics

My goal in visiting with students is to inspire and encourage readers and writers of all ability levels. Suggested topics include: Writing Process - I'll introduce my writing process, discuss what got me started writing, and what do I find is the easiest and hardest part of the writing process. "Said" is Dead - Using a reading from my book, we'll identify where I use action words rather than "said" and what additional information that provides the reader. Story Ideas - Where do story ideas and characters come from? For fun, we'll conduct an exercise to generate some story ideas. Writing Dialogue - What makes for believable dialogue in a story? We'll review some good and not-so-good examples and discuss what works and what doesn't.
